Chad’s drive for transformation gained further backing this week. President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno met with Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as part of ongoing talks with global partners supporting “Chad Connection 2030.”

Leading a delegation, Mr. Taha reaffirmed the OIC’s commitment to assist Chad in implementing its ambitious National Development Plan. The OIC, the world’s second-largest intergovernmental body after the UN, has been led since 2021 by Mr. Taha — a Chadian national working to strengthen solidarity across the Muslim world.
At the forefront of this cooperation stands the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), which recently announced USD 650 million in funding and USD 200 million in guarantees to boost investment and trade. Mr. Taha said all OIC institutions will engage in supporting Chad’s priorities in infrastructure, education, health, and poverty reduction.
He also praised President Deby for the success of the Abu Dhabi roundtable, calling it “an exemplary initiative placing Chad at the heart of new partnerships between the Arab world and Africa.”
