The Government of Chad has launched a call for expressions of interest for companies wishing to produce and distribute electricity in several provincial cities. The initiative falls under the Chad Connection 2030 strategy and aims to expand access to reliable power.
The Ministry of Water and Energy and the Ministry of Finance lead the process with support from the World Bank. They want private operators to help build, operate, and manage stand-alone solar systems and decentralized networks such as mini-grids and metro-grids.
The government plans to structure the future project as a public-private partnership (PPP). It will choose a private partner through a competitive bidding process. Ongoing technical, financial, and legal studies will confirm whether the project is feasible.
Authorities invite companies that specialize in solar power systems and decentralized energy networks to express their interest. They must send their documents electronically before January 12, 2026 to the contacts listed in the official note.
The government clarifies that this call does not launch a bidding process. It only helps assess the market and prepare future project phases under the national PPP legal framework.
