Chad suspends “C’est Bon” water over quality violations

The Ministry of Trade and Industry in Chad has announced the withdrawal and suspension of bottled water produced by “C’est Bon” from the market following serious quality concerns.

According to a report issued on April 14, 2026 by CECOQDA, inspections revealed multiple violations at the company’s production unit located in the Farcha district of N’Djamena. These included:
• Non-compliant acidity levels
• Low mineral content
• Unusual taste
• Poor hygiene conditions

Authorities stated that the decision aims to protect public health, while also announcing increased inspections across all drinking water production facilities in the country.

The suspension of “C’est Bon” highlights growing efforts by authorities to enforce quality standards in Chad’s water sector, while raising awareness about the importance of safe and regulated drinking water.

Djinodji Solmengar Rodrigue is a journalist with MRTV English, Chad’s first English-language media outlet, where he led English-language news coverage at its launch. He is also active as an English–French interpreter, working alongside international media professionals. In this capacity, he recently supported and interpreted for a delegation of foreign journalists, including BBC representatives, during the PND Chad Connexion 2030 mission. Alongside his professional practice, Djinodji is pursuing a PhD, with research centered on the presence of China and Russia in Africa as portrayed in selected Commonwealth online media. His academic interests lie at the intersection of media, geopolitics, and discourse analysis. Earlier in his career, he taught English and authored a Master’s thesis examining the contextualization of English language teaching in Chad, reflecting a sustained engagement with educational challenges and policy.
