Chad and Algeria signed 34 cooperation agreements during President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno’s state visit to Algiers, expanding bilateral ties across energy, security, education and infrastructure.
The deals mark one of the largest cooperation packages signed between the two countries in recent years.
President Deby and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune oversaw the signing ceremony at the presidential palace in Algiers.
“We have signed major agreements built around four strategic pillars: knowledge, resource transformation, economic integration and security,” Mahamat Deby said.
The agreements include projects in hydrocarbons, mining, renewable energy, pharmaceutical production and public administration modernization.
Both countries also signed a security accord aimed at strengthening cooperation against terrorism in the Sahel-Saharan region.
In addition, the two sides expanded air transport cooperation, building on the Algiers–N’Djamena route launched by Air Algérie in October 2025.
Tebboune said stronger bilateral cooperation would help address shared regional security and development challenges.
The visit also included meetings between Déby and senior Algerian officials before the Chadian president concluded his trip.
