Chad needs continued support from the international community to tackle poverty, climate change and regional instability, Arnaud Buissée, a World Bank Executive Director said Tuesday in N’Djamena.
Arnaud Buissée made the remarks during a meeting between Chadian officials and a delegation from the World Bank Group’s Board of Executive Directors visiting the country.
“Chad needs the support of the international community, and the World Bank Group stands ready to respond,” Buissée said.
The delegation is in Chad to engage with national stakeholders and assess the country’s development priorities.
Finance Minister Tahir Hamid Nguilin welcomed the mission and thanked the World Bank for its support.
“We are honored to receive this delegation,” he said.
The delegation will meet with government officials, private sector representatives, civil society actors and development partners during the visit.
Members will also inspect World Bank-funded projects in electricity access and flood protection in N’Djamena.
The mission runs through April 30.
