The Ministry of Trade and Industry has reminded the public that counterfeit alcoholic beverages remain strictly banned across Chad.

The ban covers the import, production, possession, circulation, sale, offering and consumption of these products nationwide.

The ministry based the prohibition on Decree No. 2835/PCMT/PMT/MSPSN/22 of September 5, 2022, citing serious risks to human health.

While noting a resurgence in trafficking and consumption, the ministry warned that offenders face criminal sanctions under existing laws.

It also urged enforcement agencies to step up vigilance and ensure full compliance with the decree, stressing the need to protect public health and dismantle illegal networks.
