ARADA, Wadi Fira Province, July 20, 2026 – The 54th National Tree Week was launched in Arada. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Liman Mahamat and the Minister of Environment, Fisheries and Sustainable Development, Hassan Bakhit Djamous.
The launch is part of government efforts to plant more trees, fight desertification, and protect the environment.
The Government Delegate for Wadi Fira, Ibrahim Issa Ghalmai, welcomed the delegation and said Arada is proud to host the national launch.
The Director General of the Great Green Wall, Tahir Latchi Ghalmai, said tree planting is important to restore land and fight climate change.

Minister Hassan Bakhit Djamous urged citizens to plant and care for trees. He said protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility.
Deputy Prime Minister Liman Mahamat officially opened the week. He said the government is increasing tree planting to address climate change and support communities.
The event ended with a symbolic tree planting in Arada. The campaign will continue in other provinces in the coming days.
