Authorities in the Chadian capital, N’Djamena, carried out a late-night operation on Wednesday after receiving reports of suspected illegal slaughtering in the city’s 10th district.

The raid, led by the district mayor alongside municipal police and local officials, uncovered dozens of animals in poor condition, prompting immediate public health measures.

Authorities said they found 104 cattle and 47 goats at the site, while four bulls were reportedly removed before security forces arrived. The animals have since been placed under quarantine as investigations continue.

Officials have warned residents against purchasing or consuming meat from unknown or uncertified sources, stressing the potential health risks linked to unregulated slaughter and distribution.
