N’Djamena, Dec 2, 2025 — Chad’s National Assembly on Tuesday passed two bills aimed at reshaping local administration and refining election rules.
Lawmakers approved the measures during the Assembly’s 17th sitting at the Palace of Democracy. Assembly Speaker Ali Kolotou Tchaïmi chaired the session, which senior government officials attended.
The first bill endorses a July 5, 2024 presidential ordinance that restructures administrative units. The government says the changes will bring public services closer to citizens and support local development.
The second bill amends the electoral code through a presidential ordinance dated Aug. 30, 2024. Authorities say the revisions aim to clarify procedures, improve efficiency and widen participation in the electoral process.
Officials argue that both laws form part of broader reforms designed to stabilize governance and prepare the ground for inclusive elections.
