N’Djamena transport operators given 60-day deadline to comply with new regulations

Authorities in N’Djamena have given urban transport operators a 60-day deadline to comply with new regulations aimed at improving transport services in the capital.

The directive applies to motorcycle taxis and minibuses.

In a statement, the Multisectoral Urban Transport Steering Committee (CMPTU) said operators must obtain a transport permit from the Ministry of Transport, register with the committee, repaint their vehicles in approved colors and display identification numbers.

Motorcycle riders are also required to wear safety helmets.

The CMPTU warned that failure to comply will result in penalties under existing laws. Joint security forces will carry out inspections to enforce the new measures.

Alongside his professional practice, Djinodji is pursuing a PhD, with research centered on the presence of China and Russia in Africa as portrayed in selected Commonwealth online media. His academic interests lie at the intersection of media, geopolitics, and discourse analysis. Earlier in his career, he taught English and authored a Master’s thesis examining the contextualization of English language teaching in Chad, reflecting a sustained engagement with educational challenges and policy.
