Chad has lifted the suspension on issuing supplementary birth certificates to children aged 4 months to 17 years, strengthening birth registration across the country.
Through the Prime Minister’s Decree, the government supports Sustainable Development Goal 16 on legal identity for all and will waive court fees until 2030.

Authorities must keep a special register, verify declarations, and provide the service free of charge to the targeted age group.
The government says this measure will help more children obtain official identity documents and access essential services such as education and healthcare.
